Project Location
Georgetown, South Carolina
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Baruch Marine Laboratory support (BARUCH) includes one PAM station located at the Hugo Relief Station, South Carolina, near Georgetown, South Carolina. The station was installed at the site in response to an appeal for help following damage from the passage of Hurricane Hugo. As an NSF Long-Term Ecological Research site, the lab had maintained climate records since 1982. It was important to maintain a nearly continuous record following the destruction of the Baruch equipment by Hugo. Significant down time occurred when parts of the staion were removed by Baruch personnel for safekeeping when the area was threatend by another hurrincane in the fall of 1990.
