PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The Cooperative Huntsville Meterological Experiment (COHMEX) project was an combined effort in support of Microburst and Severe Thunderstorm (MIST)  and NASA-sponsored Satellite Precipitation and Cloud Experiment (SPACE), including support of Gregory Forbes (Pennsylvania State University), V.N. Bringi (Colorado State University), Teodore Fujita (University of Chicago), Roger Wakimoto (University of California, Los Angeles), and James Arnold (National Aeronautics and Space Administration).  NASA, FAA, the Tennessee Valley Authority, NOAA and NSF all combined forces in COHMEX to use a range of instruments. Primary objectives were :  investigation and documentation of the three-dimensional structure of microbursts and associated thunderstorms.
