Applied Technologies K-probe Sonic Anemometer
Short Name or Variable Name
ATIK Sonic Anemometer
The ATI K-probe is a three-component ultrasonic anemometer/thermometer (sonic) used to meaure turbulence and turbulent fluxes. The K-probe array was designed by the late Chandran Kaimal while at NOAA with the idea of making orthogonal wind measurements, but with each measurement path not distorting the airflow through either of the other two paths. A "shadow correction" is needed for each path, but is assumed to only need to model the path itself (not the surrounding arrray supports) and thus be straightforward to implement -- even generically.
ISFS has 5 of these purchased many years ago that may or may not be still functional.
