Ground-based Systems
EOL manages an NSF-owned ground-based, polarimetric weather radar that provide atmospheric researchers with measurements of the structure, movement and severity of precipitating cloud systems and on the type and amount of resulting precipitation. Additionally, EOL's surface, sounding, and profiling systems serve the advanced observational needs of the atmospheric science community by providing a flexible, state-of-the-art backbone measurement capability applicable to a wide range of experimental needs - emphasizing advanced sensor capabilities, sensor integration, system mobility, and the ability to deploy to remote or difficult locations.
